After four days of rain, I'm ready to get outside and make the most of the sunshine and work on some new juggling stuff. I'm going to rejoin the SCA so I'd like to do things that are not made out of plastic. It's challenging because almost all commercial juggling equipment is made out of plastic. Balls of course can be made out of fabric or chainmail. No problems there. But clubs, rings, shaker cups, torches and so forth will be challenging.

Thirty Years of Tossing Things Around

Today when I was having a great time juggling teddy bears at the park, I realized I've been juggling over 30 years. I learned in 1977 while I was in college. My bears and I had a great time and I took some self portraits. Rock on. I also realized it's not how well you juggle that matters, but how much you enjoy yourself.

I just read a fiction book called the Clown Girl. It's a black comedy. I could relate to a lot of it. It's like the dark side of clowning. If you like books that are kind of out there, check it out.

Just making sure I still know how to juggle. You know vaudeville is kinda coming back with all the attention Steampunk is getting. I could work on a Steampunk Juggling Routine. Hmmm, now there's a thought.

Juggling in the Dark

I did a little club juggling tonight. I wanted to see if I could juggle clubs in the dark and then have a flash go off and keep juggling. Boy was that tricky. Of course I wasn't thrilled to be getting so fat, but what can I say, I'm juggling at least.

I wanted to juggle clubs and this guy from the juggling school was a good sport and passed with me for a bit. It made me realize how much I miss juggling with other people. It used to be so easy to find people to juggle with. Even at the faire, most of the people at the juggling school where laid back and just hanging out, not even willing to get up and toss a few around.

I just found this group on youtube. There are many videos about them. So if you go see this on youtube you can follow around to various shows and countries. Fascinating. I particularly love that they do it to share joy and not as part of a religious or political agenda.

The week sure went by quick. I had a lot more planned but didn't have the energy to do it. My hands are still sore from woodcarving, and so I've had to lay off the knitting and crocheting. I'm looking forward to the weekend. My daughter may visit. We'll see.

Juggling in HB again

I wasn't so lucky in H.B. this time as none of the people I juggled with last week showed up. It was all fighters and fencers. A few people asked about my hula hoop though.
Too many drunks in the park, so not nearly as much fun as last week. But the point is that at least I juggled for an hour.

Juggling tonight in Huntington Beach CA

Here is my new schedule. On Monday nights I'll go to the SCA fighter's practice in Long Beach and from 7 to 8 juggle (while it's still light out) and then from 8 to 9 belly dance.
On Tuesday nights I'll go to the fighter practice in Huntington Beach CA and juggle from 7 to 8 and belly dance from 8 to 9. So anyone that wants to jump in feel free to drop by. That's PM of course. It's not an official class, just a place to practice and improve my skills. If you are not in the SCA, that's okay, it's a public park. I just feel safer hanging with a group of people who are into creative things.
